The Lincoln School

August 1, 2017 by janeroper

I worked with Corey McPherson to develop positioning, branding, tagline and copy (viewbooks, brochures, website) for the Lincoln School, a K-12 school for girls in Providence, Rhode Island. The school wanted to shake the misperception that they were old-fashioned and uptight, and let people know how dynamic and diverse learning at Lincoln really is. (Not to mention how awesome their students are.) Click to read viewbook, below.

MassMutual

April 13, 2016 by janeroper

I’ve done multiple projects for MassMutual Insurance (via Genuine), including website copy, educational articles, and videos. Ask me anything — anything — about financial planning, and I can tell you more than you’d probably care to know. MassMutualAtWork.com contains information about MassMutual’s workplace insurance benefits, with distinct pages and sub-pages for employees, employers, and financial professionals. Combined Jewish Philanthropies

January 1, 2016 by janeroper

Boston nonprofit Combined Jewish Philanthropies wanted a provocative campaign to get the word out about the many ways they support and strengthen Boston’s Jewish community—and how their network of partners and initiatives can make a bigger difference than any one organization can on its own. This major campaign consisted of print, transit, outdoor, online and social media. I worked on all of them. And I got to rhyme “Jews” with “canoes” in the process — a lifelong ambition. (And just […]

AIG / Chartis

August 1, 2015 by janeroper

The property and casualty division of AIG was re-branded for several years as Chartis. I served as the lead copywriter on all Chartis advertising and online marketing at their brand launch and for the following 3 years, via PARTNERS+simons. Elements included print, direct mail, online, trade shows, and more. Body: Whether your business is exposed to risk in two countries or 102, Chartis can expertly execute and service your program—wherever you operate today and wherever opportunity takes you tomorrow. Learn more about our multinational […]

Boston University

June 3, 2015 by janeroper

The goal of this demand generation campaign, which I worked on with Forge Worldwide, was to boost applications to Boston University’s graduate programs in Public Relations and Statistical Practice. Anchored by the tagline “Advanced knowledge, advancing you constantly,” the campaign featured the names of actual courses and career paths of graduates to bring each program to life. Online ads drove to (what else?) a super mobile-friendly landing page where viewers could learn more and request more info. Emails, print brochures, and good old fashioned application reminder post cards […]

Spaulding Rehabilitation Network

January 1, 2015 by janeroper

I recently wrote a number of brochures for the various facilities and programs of the Spaulding Rehabilitation network, newly unified under one, overarching brand with the tagline “Find Your Strength.” These had to strike the right balance of information and inspiration. Click on a brochure cover to download the whole brochure.

Gulf Electricity

November 12, 2014 by janeroper

Gulf Oil recently broke into the highly competitive electricity supply game. When they added greater New York to their market, they wanted to spread the word with a fun, memorable campaign that built on their brand recognition. It was so easy to come up with bad electricity puns when we were concepting for this, we decided to just run with it, with an over-the-top, pun-based campaign (banners, subway posters and taxi-tops) that invited people to submit their best (as in, worst)  electricity puns […]

Plexxi

November 1, 2012 by janeroper

Plexxi is a networking solution with a dream: to make peace between the network people and the application people. To explain any more than that would require a mini-course in networking, and it would be unfair to subject you to that. I was half of the creative team on this video (which I think is entertaining even if you don’t have a tech background). The real question is: are you a wiener or a wonk?

Sovereign Bank

August 13, 2012 by janeroper

Sovereign needed an eye-catching campaign to promote a new checking account that offered more perks, including a $150 bonus. This campaign, which included advertising, direct mail, outdoor, and street team marketing, was one of their most successful retail campaigns ever: It produced deposit balance growth of 45% over new account baseline balances, and 41% growth in new accounts compared to baseline. Not to brag or anything.

I’ve been an agency and freelance copywriter and brand strategist in the Boston area for nearly 20 years. In that time, I’ve written for just about every kind of client, in just about every medium.

I’m a storyteller at heart, with an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop to prove it. I’m perpetually fascinated by what makes different kinds of people tick (hence my BA in anthropology) and bring that curiosity and insight to my work. My number one goal, always, is to create work that’s right for the client — that speaks in their voice, supports their brand, and achieves their goals in strategic (and sometimes surprising) ways. I catch on quickly, work fast, and keep my ego in a cage in my basement where it can’t cause any trouble.
